What is a HOSPICE?

The Northern Hospice and Palliative Care Foundation Limited definition of a hospice is a dedicated facility supporting individuals and their families at end of life. Palliative and end of life care are provided by our facility. Respite care can also be provided if the facility is suitably designed and resourced.

Providing people with a CHOICE at end of life

The World Health Organisation has defined Palliative Care as an approach that improves the quality of life of patients and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems, physical, psychosocial and spiritual.

We give people a home away from home, providing the help, support and care that patients, families and friends need. This includes 24-hour access to food and drink preparation areas, access to lounge areas and gardens and accommodation in a “family” room if required.
